Lt John Herschel

Lt John Herschel, the son of John Herschel, observed in Bangalore, India, using a 4" refractor. He made the first spectroscopic observations of nebula in the southern hemisphere. He visually observed the Eta Carinae Nebula (NGC 3372), see: MNRAS 29, 82 (1868).
