Auguste Voigt

Voigt was director of Marseille Observatory 1863-65 (followed by Stephan). During March-August 1865 he found 7 NGC- and 3 IC-objects (all galaxies) with the 80 cm Foucault reflector (silver-on-glass mirror), using a magnification of 150; 5 NGC- and all IC-objects were new. The 10 objects are contained in Voigt's observation log; his list was published 1987 by Tobin; see: Voigt A., 1ere Liste des dix nebuleuses nouvelles, in: Tobin, W., Vistas in Astronomy 30, 145-152 (1987).
