NGC Discovery Statistics

This table presents the discovery statistics for the NGC. It is based on the Historic NGC. The columns are explained below (1...10 are called "status", which is roughly an object type, "8" is omitted). The 105 discoverers are presented in detail on the observers page (note that 5 persons - Cysat, Ellery, Magellan, and Secchi - are not the very discoverers, but mentioned by Dreyer). The last row gives the sums of the columns. The individual sums add to 7840, the number of entries in the original NGC.
