NGC/IC Discovery Statistics

2012
The tables present the discovery statistics for the NGC/IC (based on the Historic NGC/IC). The columns are explained below (1...10 are called "status", which is roughly an object type). The 105 NGC- and 58 IC discoverers are presented in detail on the observers page. Note that - contrary to the information given by Dreyer - Cysat, Ellery, Magellan and Secchi are not the very NGC discoverers and As-Sufi, Bellamy and W. Parsons are not the very IC discoverers. The last row gives the sums of the columns. The individual sums add to 7840 and 5386, the number of entries in the original NGC and IC, respectively.
