Reinmuth is famous for his work "Die Herschel-Nebel", published in 1926. It contains all objects north of -20° declination listed in John Herschel's "General Catalogue" (GC) and Dreyer's supplement (GCS). These 4445 objects were searched and described using photographies made with the 16 cm- and 40 cm-astrographs and the 72 cm-Waltz-reflector at Königstuhl Observatory.
