Joseph Lunt

Lunt discovered 7 IC objects at the Cape Observatory; see: Lunt, J., Notes on Nebulae observed at the Royal Observatory, Cape of Good Hope, MNRAS 62, 468 (1902), containing also objects found by Innes. The planetary nebulae IC 2621 in Carina and IC 4670 in Sagittarius were found visually in 1901 using the 24" refractor (the "Victoria Spectroscopic Telescope" erected in 1898) with a 24" objective prism. The first object was also found with a spectroscope by Fleming (#106) in 1907. The remaining objects are galaxies in Grus, found in 1900 with the 18" f/15 Grubb refractor (installed 1897), while searching for Brorsen's comet: IC 5170, 5171, 5181, 5201 and 5224.
